The company was founded by Brian McCafferty in 1989 with the concept that integrity and the dedication to excellence should be the cornerstone of client relationships and that reputation is the basis for profit. Automation Concepts began as a software development company for the legal industry and discovered a greater need in the business consulting and network infrastructure market place. This commitment to core values resulted in high client retention and rapid growth of the company. Automation Concepts was awarded “Business of the Year” by the Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce.

Brian McCafferty is an experienced Project Manager, Network Engineer, and Consultant with a proven history of managing complex and difficult projects. Previous executive level positions include Vice President & Director positions as well project management and consulting experience working with major U.S. Companies. Experienced in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) from requirements definition through design, development, UAT, and implementation. A strong player in the server room or the boardroom with excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to translate a client’s needs into technical terms as well as explain technically complicated issues to clients and users.

Exeter Software Ltd.  – Warehouse Management Systems – 1987 – 1989
Moved from Senior Software Engineer to Director of Client Services to cleanup relations with unhappy customers and restore the company’s reputation in order to poise the company for sale. Past experience as Vice President of Information Services considered a plus on the management team for prospective buyers. Clients included Apple Computer, Champion Spark Plug, AMD, and Reebok.

·     Director of Client Services – Promoted to prepare company for sale.

·     Project Manager – Promoted from SSE to clean up mismanaged accounts.

·     Conducted Requirements Definition sessions with users and executives (JAD teams).

·     Liaised with client’s senior management to coordinate staff efforts and resolve issues.

·     Responsible for the Software Development Life Cycle of custom software systems.

·     Managed all aspects of the projects from contract signing to customer acceptance.

·     Customers included Apple, AMD, Reebok, Egghead Software, & Champion Sparkplug.

·     Responsible for turn-around of troubled accounts to reference accounts.

·     Senior Software Engineer (SSE) Real-time programming Warehouse Automation Systems.

·     Wrote Conveyor/Inline Scanner Simulator to provide faster pre-production test results.

·     Developed hand-held scanner software for directed put-away for Reebok

·     Transitioned company’s product to OS/2 based, multi-tasking, PC-Network product.

NorthEastern Mortgage Company 1985 – 1987
Hired to create an IS Department for this fast growing company which had 5 offices and 125 employees. Inherited a single departmental computer and 2 employees. Rapidly developed company-wide systems and software while building an IS department needed to service the company which had grown to 500 employees located in 22 offices across multiple states.

·     Vice President Information Systems – Member of the senior management team.

·     Hired to build IS Department and prepare the company for IPO.

·     Built a dynamic team of 42 employees covering a broad range of duties.

·     Company was rated 5th fastest growing corporation in USA by INC. Magazine.

·     Chief system architect for software & system design.

·     Systems included multiple networked mini-computers, & networked PC’s.

·     Responsible for the development, acquisition, and implementation of mortgage software.

·     Developed and implemented a 22 office networked software solution in 12 months.

ARC/AMS, INC.  (AASI)  1982 – 1985
Hired by AASI, a Fireman’s Fund Company, and relocated to San Francisco to work on the development of Series/1 Remote Communication Software. Company bought Texas based ARC which relocated the development team to Dallas, TX. Programmed core system internals on DEC PDP/11 mini computers. Ran Special Projects Team for Rapid Application Development (RAD) of single use programs. Selected to lead remaining software development team after merger with AMS. Relocated to Boston to head up Software Packaging and Distribution Team.

Aetna Life & Casualty .  1981 – 1982
Entry into Computer Programming on IBM Mainframe. Promoted to Systems Programmer in new Mini-Computer group developing client-side computer systems.

·     Worked on Remote Communications Software for the Series/1

·     Analyst/Programmer for mainframe COBOL with automobile insurance group.
